Abstract:

This dissertation looks at the history of Spanish dramaturgy in Russian and Soviet theatre scene with the help of different bibliographic sources. It seeks not only to describe the history of Spanish dramaturgy in the Russian theatre scene, but to analyse the influence of the Spanish drama on the political, social and cultural situation in Russia in the most important moments of the country’s history (Russian revolution at the start of the 20th century and the years after World War II). This dissertation focuses on three Spanish playwrights – Lope de Vega, Tirso de Molina and Calderón de la Barca and the destiny of their plays in the Russia of the 18th-19th centuries and the USSR (20th century). I will also analyse the main stages of the evolution of Spanish dramaturgy in the Russian theatre scene.
