Abstract:

It is a proposal of analysis of the presence and importance of fashion in the works of the countess of Pardo Bazán. A historical and literary review of the main tailors and fashion trends of the time will be carried out, as well as a short analysis of the clothing worn by the working classes.
The literary characters of this author will be thoroughly analysed, as well as the changes in mentality and the customs of the time linked to fashion.
The works of Pardo Bazán will also allow for a reflection on the importance of fashion linked to the evolution of the status of women. It will also be possible to delve deeper in phenomena strictly connected to fashion, such as dandyism, fashion victims, new materials, new designs, etc.
Finally, the link between art/fashion and fashion as art in the works of Ms. Emilia Pardo Bazán will be analysed.
