Abstract:

Cinema and literature are two artistic languages with some similarities, but they cannot be considered as equivalents. Our research proposal is interdisciplinary; it links writing and filmmaking. The body of work will be the novel “A World for Julius”, by the Peruvian writer Alfredo Bryce Echenique (Lima, 1939), with a proposal of adaptation of the text and its literal information, as well as what it evokes, turning it into a screenplay in which the novel can be interpreted from the present day. To carry out the work, we will study the theories of cinematographic transposition, which combine literary and film concepts, plus screenwriting theories, which will be used as theoretical basis for our proposal. The dissertation will conclude with the film adaptation of the novel.
