Literatura en lengua española y literatura comparadaAbstract:
The scarce works of the poets of chansonnier Juan Agraz and Juan Marmolejo have not gone unnoticed among critics: some scholars, without delving into the edition of their texts, have highlighted formal and thematic aspects of their poetry in different works about other authors. Moreover, after reading their verses, we find a very interesting and varied body of work. All of that calls for a thorough analysis of their works and, at the same time, for an eradication of the term minor applied to them due to their small poetic legacy: we have 20 poems by Agraz and only 2 by Marmolejo, all of them in different handwritten sources (Cancionero de Palacio, Cancionero de Gallardo…) and also printed ones (Cancionero General and some loose sheets). In addition to this editorial work and the analysis of their texts, the vital trajectory of both poets will be studied, since, at best, there has only been an incomplete approach to their possible family origins; however, their origins and, above all, the context in which they lived, are crucial details in order to understand their poetry and the tradition it is linked to. To sum up, the point it is to know what both authors and their works add to the chansonniers and, more generally, to medieval literature.Program:
