Abstract:
This dissertation will focus on the figure of Miguel Casado, writer born in Valladolid in 1954. He has written five collections of poems and is also the author of a vast body of work as a literary critic and the translator into Spanish of texts by 19th and 20th century poets, such as Rimbaud, Verlaine, or Francis Ponge, to name just a few. Together with poets Miguel Suárez, Olvido García Valdés, Ildefonso Rodríguez, Concha García and Esperanza López Parada, he was linked to a poetic expression for which several terms have been coined: “poetry of silence”, “metaphysical poetry”, “poetry of knowledge”, “poetry of language” or “group of Valladolid”. These terms are due, on the one hand, to their aesthetical and poetic affinity, since the poets linked to it are influenced by the same authors (Cernuda, Valente, Gamoneda, Ullán…). On the other hand, these authors collaborated in the editing and publishing of several poetry magazines, such as Un ángel más, Los infolios or El signo del gorrión.
